Accounts Assistant

Habitat First Group is a family-run, development company founded on the principle of creating holiday home communities that share a deep love for Mother Nature. Due to continued growth, we are now seeking an Accounts Assistant to support the Financial Director in the busy Finance Department.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in purchase and sales ledgers, cash control and creating management accounts via Sage 50, within a fast paced environment.

Exceptional organisational, time management skills, communication and interpersonal skills, plus a strong attention to detail are a must to be successful within the position.

Reporting to Finance Director
Salary £18 - £20k per annum pro rata
Hours Flexible: Between 3 and 5 days per week

Key Responsibilities:

Purchase Ledger
– Receiving Supplier Invoices via email / post and filing
– Entering Supplier Invoices onto the accounting system
– Reconciling the supplier ledger to supplier statements
– Chasing missing supplier invoices
– Putting supplier invoices into query where required and resolving any problems/disputes

Sales Ledger
– Entering sales invoices onto the accounting system
– Emailing / posting invoices out to customers
– Handling customer queries and liaising with the relevant departments to resolve those queries
– Credit control – chasing overdue payments

Cash Control
– Entering bank payments / receipts onto Sage 50.
– Bank Reconciliations

Payroll
– Assisting the running of a small payroll each month via Sage 50 Payroll
– Entering new starters and leavers
– Issuing payslips
– Running the payroll Bacs payment

Management Accounts
– Producing a set of basic accounts from Sage 50
– Monthly reconciliation accounts

General Ad Hoc Duties
– Other tasks that help with the timely delivery of the monthly accounts as and when they arise
– Helping other Team Members re Habitat First Group and Conservation Builders

Essential Skills:
– Previous experience in a finance / accounts role
– Knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts Package
– Excel, Word and Outlook
– Ability to work in a small team environment
– Self-Motivated
