Activities Assistant

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Outdoor Activities Coordinator to join us o a temporary basis throughout the summer months, working 3 days per week including flexible weekend work.

You will be confident in providing a high-quality service to our guests, for both the coordination and delivery of Silverlake’s outdoor rental activities, such as canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding and cycling.

We would love you to have at least one years’ experience in outdoor activites, and ideally possess a BSUPA level one qualification. However if you have a passion for the outdoors and fit our ethos we will happily provide training where required.

Salary £11.00 p/h
Hours 3 days per week - flexible 9.30 - 4.30 including weekend work

Key Responsibilities:

Rental Assistant and Customer Care:

  • Meeting and greeting guests, being the friendly face of the Activity Hub at Silverlake
  • Ensuring that customers are given diligent safety briefings before their hire period.
  • Answering enquiries from guests about appropriate equipment for them
  • Assisting the cycle mechanic in the upkeep of a fleet of hire bikes
  • Ensuring that all equipment is safe and tidy after use and that all assets are safely secured at the end of day
  • Carrying out regular safety checks on the water sports equipment
  • Taking bookings both online and over the phone for sessions and rental

Activity Instructor:

  • Delivering Paddle boarding lessons in a fun and safe manner to family groups on our Lakes
  • Delivering children’s water sports sessions
  • Providing first aid care to guests with minor injuries
  • Taking the responsibility of ensuring the emergency action plan is carried out in a calm and proficient manner should a serious incident arise

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:

  • First class customer service skills with a confident and personable manner
  • Knowledge and experience of outdoor pursuits
  • Being able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility working across the varied responsibilities, managing priorities effectively
  • Ability to coordinate (as well as deliver) activities in an organised manner

Desirable Qualifications:

  • BSUPA level one.
  • Valid first aid qualification.
  • RYA windsurf instructor
  • Level 1 in coaching paddle sport
  • Any relevant industry qualifications that could be utilised in the development of new activities.
